Maiko Itai reacts after being named Miss Universe Japan in Tokyo on Tuesday night. Itai, 25, who lives in Usuki, Oita Prefecture, was picked from 11 contestants in the final round of the Japanese beauty pageant, which had about 4,000 applicants. She will go to the Miss Universe 2010 beauty pageant in July.

Popular model Yuri Ebihara, 29, wears a wedding dress during a promotional event for Woody Allen’s new movie “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” at the Spanish embassy in Tokyo on Monday. Reporters bombarded Ebi-chan with questions about when she will marry Ilmari, 34, from music group Rip Slyme, to which she replied “I don’t know.” The film opens in Japan on June 27.

Model Karina, 25, left, and another model wear wedding dresses which she designed for her brand “Sancta Carina,” during a fashion show at Stellar Ball in Tokyo. The dresses include elements of both “cool” and “cute” to exude femininity. “I hope my dresses can contribute to many blissful weddings in the future,” Karina said. Asked about her own wedding prospects, she replied, “I’m going to be 26 next February, so I would like to work on it.” As for spontaneous marriage, which seems to be popular among “talents” these days, she replied, “Not a chance.”
