Tokyo International Anime Fair

Visitors sit next to cardboard cutouts of anime characters at a booth at the Tokyo International Anime Fair at Tokyo Big Sight on Thursday. The fair, one of the world’s largest animation expos, runs until Sunday and is expected to attract around 100,000 visitors, according to organizers.

Skaters enjoy themselves Saturday on an ice rink set up at Tokyo Midtown. The rink is open daily from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. until March 3. Admission is 1,500 yen for high school students and older, and 1,000 yen for children. Cost includes skate rentals.

The design picture of E5 bullet train for 2011 …

The new E5-type bullet train, which has an elongated nose to reduce air resistance, is shown to media at Rifu in Miyagi Prefecture, on Wednesday. It can travel at a speed of 320 kilometers per hour, and cover the distance between Tokyo and New Aomori Station (currently under construction), in 185 minutes. The E5 will go into service in March of 2011.
